So far we have done a writing activity and a craft, what more could we possibly do??? SNACK please!!! How about a simple Spookley the Square Pumpkin snack that both parent and child will love.
Seriously, these little pumpkins are so cute and easy to make. All you really need are 2 simple ingredients, but a few others items to make them just a little extra special.
For this project you’ll need:
Black Cookie Icing
White Vanilla Frosting
(A) The first thing you need to do is to create some orange frosting. I simply used a white frosting base and then used the color chart on the back of the food coloring to make sure my orange turned out orange.
(B) Next, take your graham crackers and break them in half.
(C) Then, frost each graham cracker with your orange frosting.
(D) Lastly, decorate each Spookley with candy eyes (which can be found at your regular grocery store) and use the black cookie frosting to give Spookley a smile and a stem!
Almost looks too good to eat…Almost! Don’t worry, my two year old sunk his teeth into this tasty treat and LOVED it! Another idea I had after I had already created my orange frosting is that I should have reserved a small amount of the white frosting and made some green to use for the stem. O-well, the important part is that Spookley never tasted so good!
This concludes our little unit on The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, but we still have two more fun Halloween ideas to debut, so make sure to join us tomorrow!
